Donation Policy

1. Our Mission and Why Your Support Matters

Genecare Holistic Health Foundation works to remove barriers to genetic health services. Our emphasis is on underserved populations: offering free education, genetic counseling, screening testing, and care coordination services to those who would not otherwise have access. We do not charge for our community initiatives, and we get no government support; therefore, we rely totally on philanthropic contributions. Every contribution helps us operate clinics, educate community educators, and finance research that offers equitable, preventative care to more people. And it’s all down to your kindness.

2. Ways to Give

We welcome gifts in several forms. Choose the method that works best for you.

  • Monetary Gifts (One-Time or Monthly)
Make an online donation using our secure giving gateway, mail a check, or make a wire transfer. Monthly gifts are an ongoing form of support and may be given online in minutes.
  • Gifts of Publicly Traded Securities
You can transfer stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares. Donating appreciated securities may offer tax benefits. Contact our office for transfer instructions and our brokerage details.
  • Bequests and Planned Gifts
Naming the Foundation in your will, trust, or as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement account creates a lasting legacy. We can provide sample language for you and your advisor.
  • In-Kind Donations
We accept new or gently used items that directly support our programs, for example, medical supplies, educational materials, or office equipment. All in-kind offers are reviewed for suitability before acceptance.
  • Donor-Advised Funds and Matching Gifts
Amplify your impact by recommending a contribution from your donor-advised fund or using your employer’s matching gift program. See whether your employer has a charitable giving matching program.

3. Gift Acceptance Guidelines

  • To protect the Foundation’s purpose and resources, our Board of Directors has adopted clear gift acceptance policies. We may, at our sole discretion, decline any gift that does not meet these criteria.

    • Tangible Property
Physical items must be clean, safe, and in working order. We cannot accept goods that require expensive repairs, specialized storage, or disposal. All in-kind gifts are evaluated before they become property of the Foundation.
    • Restricted Gifts
If you wish to direct your donation to a specific program, we welcome the conversation. Any restriction must be reviewed and documented in a written gift agreement signed by both you and an authorized Foundation representative. We are unable to accept restrictions that conflict with our core values, that involve illegal activities, or that would force the Foundation to act outside its charitable purpose.
    • Conflicts and Values
We will not accept donations that might cause a conflict of interest, or that could harm our reputation, or that originate from sources that are incompatible with our goal.
    • Non-Cash Assets
Gifts of securities, real estate, or other non-cash assets will be examined on a case-by-case basis and may need an independent evaluation prior to acceptance.

4. How We Use and Protect Your Gift

Use of Restricted Funds

When you designate a gift for a particular program or activity, those funds are held separately and used only for that purpose. If a program is discontinued or becomes fully funded, we will make every effort to contact you and discuss how the remaining funds can be redirected to a similar initiative. If we are unable to reach you after reasonable attempts, the Board may reassign the gift to a closely related activity that honors your original intent.

Donor Privacy

Protecting your privacy is our priority. The Foundation does not sell, rent, trade, or exchange your personal information with any parties. Any information you convey to us during the contribution process is used only to process your gift, present you with tax receipts, and highlight your support in our annual report or website (with your full agreement). We use industry-grade encryption for online contributions, and our payment processors adhere to strict data security standards. Physical files are held in secured cabinets, and digital records are maintained on password-protected, access-controlled systems.

Fee Transparency

Donations via credit or debit card are handled through a secure third-party channel (e.g., Stripe or PayPal). These platforms carry a normal processing fee, usually about 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. The fee is charged before the money hits our account. The full amount you donate before the fee is tax-deductible, and your receipt will reflect that total gift amount. The Foundation does not add any other administrative charges. If you would like 100% of your contribution to reach programs directly, consider giving by check, wire transfer, or donor-advised fund; these methods incur no processing fees.
